When Tasha first connected with Nicholtown Child and Family Collaborative (NCFC), she was a young mother of two trying to find her footing. After leaving an unhealthy relationship, she was living with relatives and carrying the weight of parenting, finances, and uncertainty about the future. She loved her children deeply, but she did not feel confident in herself.
Through NCFC’s Nurturing Skills for Young Parents program, Tasha participated in 14 weeks of parenting classes, one-on-one support, and workshops focused on child development, emotional wellness, healthy relationships, and practical life skills. For the first time, she felt supported rather than judged.
She learned positive discipline strategies, stress management tools, and daily routines that brought calm and consistency into her home. With guidance connecting to housing and employment resources, her family began to stabilize. “I learned how to respond instead of react,” she shared. “My home is calmer. My kids are happier. And I’m happier.”
Monique’s experience reflects another side of NCFC’s work.
When she joined Parent Café, she was looking for support but did not expect to find community. Through monthly gatherings focused on financial literacy, mental health, parenting, and life skills, Monique gained practical tools. Just as important, she found a space where her voice mattered and where she was surrounded by other parents walking similar paths.
“Parent Café gave me more than information,” she shared. “It gave me people. It gave me confidence. I no longer feel like I’m doing this alone.”
These stories reflect the heart of NCFC’s approach. The organization offers families consistent guidance, trusted relationships, and access to resources that help move them from instability toward confidence and resilience.
Lasting change begins at home. Through steady presence and practical support, Nicholtown Child and Family Collaborative is helping families move from surviving to thriving, one relationship at a time.
Parent Café gave me more than information. It gave me people. It gave me confidence. I no longer feel like I’m doing this alone.
